Coming Soon: Clones, Combloc Glass & Крепость

It’s been a while since we’ve done a proper update on some of the projects happening behind the scenes at Gorilla Outfitters, and there’s quite a bit in the works. From optics to completely new gear designs, here’s a look at what we’re currently testing, developing, and preparing to bring in.

Rakurs-A Clone Testing

First up, we are currently testing a reproduction of the Russian Rakurs-A optic.

So far, we’ve completed a submersion test with favorable results, and the next step will be bringing it out to the range for live-fire testing.

One thing we noticed immediately is that the clone does not contain tritium for low-light illumination. To be fair, this was something we expected going into testing, especially given the complications surrounding tritium and reproduction optics.

Something else that caught our attention is the construction of the optic itself. After speaking with one of our customers who is familiar with this type of equipment, there is a solid possibility that the optic housings themselves may be manufactured in Belarus. We cannot confirm that at this time, but certain aspects of the construction make it a possibility worth noting.

Ultimately, the biggest question is whether the optic can actually hold up.

We want to see how it handles recoil, whether it maintains zero, how the adjustments perform, and how the optic holds up under actual use rather than simply looking the part.

If testing continues to produce favorable results, we plan to begin importing these in larger quantities, potentially within the next month.

Once testing is complete, we also plan on giving away the test optic.

Authentic Russian 1P87 Optics

Of course, we also understand that clones simply aren’t everyone’s thing.

For those looking for the real deal, we have established a solid source for authentic Russian optics and are preparing to begin importing genuine 1P87 optics.

Our current plan is to bring in complete setups whenever possible, including the optic, mounting hardware, case, and associated accessories rather than simply loose optics of unknown origin.

Availability will naturally be much more limited than the Rakurs reproductions, and pricing will reflect the fact that these are authentic Russian-produced optics rather than clones.

We’re currently gauging interest before committing to larger quantities, so if a genuine 1P87 is something you’ve been looking for, let us know.

Introducing the “Крепость” Pants

We’ve also been working closely with one of our gear manufacturers in Europe on an entirely new pair of combat pants that we’re calling the Крепость, or “Fortress,” pants.

Rather than simply reproducing an existing pair of pants, the goal is to combine features we like from several different designs into something practical, durable, and a little different from what is currently available.

Current Features

• Elastic sections in the waistband for additional flexibility and comfort
• Adjustable cuffs with drawstrings for blousing and helping keep debris out
• Multiple storage pockets throughout the pants
• Integrated soft knee pads
• Construction intended for actual field use

These are being designed with real use in mind, whether that means airsoft, milsim, hiking, range use, or simply having a seriously capable pair of pants.

We are also working on several camouflage options, including patterns that are extremely difficult to find on modern combat clothing.

Pricing is still being finalized. They unfortunately won’t be cheap, but our goal is to offer them at roughly half the price of comparable combat pants from some of the larger tactical brands.

More to Come

These are only a few of the projects currently moving behind the scenes at Gorilla Outfitters.

Our goal has always been to bring in unusual surplus, reproduce gear that has become nearly impossible to find, and occasionally build something entirely new when the existing options just don’t make sense.

Some projects will work. Some probably won’t. That’s why we test them before committing to large quantities.

As testing, manufacturing, and importing progress, we’ll continue posting updates, prototypes, photos, and release information.
