Sizing/Condition guide
At Gorilla Outfitters, we understand that a standard sizing guide is crucial for helping our customers find the best fit, given the massive variety of clothing we offer.
Please keep in mind that surplus clothing varies widely in fit and cut. This sizing chart provides general advice rather than precision tailoring.
Nearly every military uses unique sizing charts and systems, which is why we’ve created this brief tutorial to help you navigate sizing.
Jacket & Shirt Sizing
When a military size chart isn’t available, we measure each jacket or shirt from armpit to armpit to get a rough idea of how it fits. If a garment is between sizes, we mark it one size down. For example, if a shirt measures 19.75" from pit to pit, we label it as a small rather than a medium.
Here’s the measurement guide we use for garments without a military size chart:
- 14"-15" PtP = XXS
- 16"-17" PtP = Extra Small
- 18"-19" PtP = Small
- 20"-21" PtP = Medium
- 22"-23" PtP = Large
- 24"-25" PtP = Extra Large
- 26"-27" PtP = XXL
- 28"-29" PtP = 3XL
Pants Sizing
We typically convert pants to US waist and inseam sizes. If a pair of pants is between sizes, we mark it one size down. For example, if a pair of pants measures as a 33 waist, we label it as a 32 waist.
To measure pants, we lay them flat on the ground and measure across the waist, then double the measurement. For example, if the waist measures 16" across, the pants will fit a US 32 waist.
To determine the inseam, we measure from the crotch seam to the bottom of the cuff. For example, if the inseam measures 30" from the crotch seam to the cuff, we list it as a 30 inseam or 30L.
Surplus Condition Guide
Unissued
These items are brand new. They may show minor signs of storage but are otherwise in excellent condition. Items may or may not come in their original factory packaging.
Issued; Good
These items are in issued/used condition but are fully functional. They may show signs of use, such as stampings, small stains, or general dirtiness.
Items in "Issued; Good" condition will not have missing or broken buttons, zippers, or functional components unless noted in the product description. If you receive an "Issued; Good" item with such defects, we’ll replace it free of charge.
Issued; Serviceable
These items are in issued/used condition but may have defects that affect functionality. This could include missing buttons, broken zippers, or small holes and tears. This is the lowest grade of surplus we carry, and items in this category are not eligible for returns or exchanges due to their condition.
