Yugoslavian Milicija Purple Tigerstripe Parka

Issued during the turbulent 1990s, this Yugoslavian Milicija purple tigerstripe parka is a standout piece of Balkan police kit with real field history. The pattern is known by a few names—blue tiger stripe, blue lizard, purple tiger, or purple lizard—but it all refers to the same iconic, high-contrast camouflage worn by Yugoslav police units.

The blue/purple tigerstripe (blue lizard) pattern was introduced in 1992 and used extensively by the Yugoslavian police (Milicija). By 1997, it was worn as a field uniform by police officers for riot control, field exercises, and operational use during the conflict within Kosovo. The pattern—an evolution of the earlier green tiger pattern used by the JNA—came in either a more blue or purple dominant colorway and was officially phased out in 2001.

Several shade variations exist. Most collectors agree these differences are due to manufacturing techniques and dye batches, not an intentional redesign.

Features

  • Authentic Yugoslav Milicija outerwear
  • Blue / Purple Tigerstripe camouflage (also called Blue/Purple Lizard)

Sizing Notes

These are intentionally cut oversized. For best results, compare the listing measurements to a jacket you already own (chest/pit-to-pit, sleeve, and overall length).

Condition: Issued good condition expect normal wear from storage and field use. May have stains as well. These have sat in a warehouse for a long time and would highly recommend washing thoroughly with a few tablespoons of white vinegar and soap.
