Original Russian Maska-1 ballistic helmet designed for use by Russian law-enforcement and special-purpose units. The Maska-1 is one of the most recognizable Russian armored helmets of the post-Soviet period, known for its substantial armored shell, distinctive profile, and optional face-shield system.
This example retains its original factory label marked “МАСКА-1 2кл.”, identifying it as a Maska-1 with a Russian Class 2 protection designation.
The Maska-1 was designed to provide considerably more protection than a conventional lightweight combat helmet, particularly for personnel operating in close-quarters, riot-control, and high-risk tactical environments. Its imposing shape later became closely associated with Russian special-purpose equipment of the 1990s and 2000s.
