Yugoslavian Milicija Purple Tigerstripe Field Jacket
These Yugoslavian Milicija purple tigerstripe field jackets feature the same iconic camouflage pattern as the Milicija parkas, but in a lighter, more streamlined field jacket configuration. The pattern—commonly known as blue tiger stripe, blue lizard, purple tiger, or purple lizard— was introduced in 1992 and became a defining uniform of Yugoslav police forces throughout the 1990s.
By 1997, this camouflage was worn as a standard field uniform by police units during riot control operations, training exercises, and active deployments during the conflict in Kosovo. The pattern is a blue- and purple-dominant evolution of the earlier green tigerstripe used by the JNA, optimized for urban and mixed terrain.
Several shade variations exist. These differences are generally accepted to be the result of manufacturing techniques and dye batches, not intentional design changes. The pattern was officially phased out in 2001, making original examples increasingly scarce.
Compared to the oversized parkas, these field jackets offer a more practical, service fit while retaining original police utility. They were designed to be worn over duty uniforms without excessive bulk.

Size Guide — Height & Chest Based
Recommended based on standard military-type sizing (similar to ACU/USGI standards): select a size based on your height range and chest circumference. Short sizes are for shorter heights with proportionally shorter body/sleeve length.
Size Guide (Field Jackets)
These jackets follow European police sizing. Chest size determines M/L/XL, while Short vs Regular primarily affects sleeve and body length.
| Tagged Size | Recommended Height | Approx. US Fit | Length Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medium Short | 5'4" – 5'7" | Medium | Shorter sleeves and body |
| Large Short | 5'5" – 5'7" | Large | Noticeably shorter sleeves |
| Large Regular | 5'8" – 6'1" | Large | Standard sleeve and body length |
| Extra Large Short | 5'5" – 5'7" | XL | Wide fit with short sleeves |
| Extra Large Regular | 5'8" – 6'2" | XL | Full-length sleeves and body |
Real-world fit note: A wearer at 5'8" found the Large Short to be slightly short in the sleeves. If you are 5'8" or taller and prefer full sleeve coverage, we recommend choosing a Regular length.
Quick tip: If you’re between heights, pick based on how you like your sleeve/body length — Short for a slightly snugger length, Regular for a bit more coverage.
Once you’ve added actual measurements (pit-to-pit, sleeve, and back length), we can replace these estimated ranges with exact numbers.
Fit note: “Short” and “Regular” are primarily length/height differences (sleeves + body). For best fit, compare measurements to a jacket you already own.
Sizing Note: These jackets follow European police sizing and are primarily height-based. Chest fit increases with size, but length is determined by Short vs Regular. For best results, compare the provided measurements to a jacket you already own.
Condition: Issued good condition expect normal wear from storage and field use. May have stains as well. These have sat in a warehouse for a long time and would highly recommend washing thoroughly with a few tablespoons of white vinegar and soap.
